Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, using required PPE, incident/accident reporting, and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensure that urgent orders are prioritized from the point of receiving until delivery to the end user throughout the Supply Chain process.
  • Identify potential cost savings and communicate the same with the Supervisor for appropriate action.
  • Responsible for managing and controlling stock accuracy during receiving and issuing.
  • Ensure that warehouse management is effective and efficient and that procedures for Receiving, Binning, Issuing, and delivery to end users are properly followed.
  • Collaborate with the inventory or procurement team to prioritize the zero-stock replenishment.
  • Drive Supply chain best practices through collaboration with user departments and other Supply chain business partners.
  • Work with the Logistics team to ensure that Supply Partners and forwarders ship orders on time.
  • Prepares requests for delivery to end users through reservations/picking slips in accordance with procedures.
  • Timely and accurate completion of daily and weekly reports with appropriate content. Collabor
  • Manages all Discrepancy items received from the time of identification of the discrepancy to final resolution.
  • Filing and archiving: Ensures that all documents are organized in an effective manner.
  • Ensures that all reporting and information relating to stocks are available and up to date.
  • Ensures execution of all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensures timely response to emergencies concerning material requests by end users (day and night shifts).
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all warehouse storage areas and ensure proper organization and adherence to the FIFO (First In, First Out) method for issuing materials.
  • Immediately reconcile and post items issued from Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) stores upon collection by end users to ensure timely cost allocation.
  • The incumbent may be asked to perform any other tasks that are not explicitly listed above but which are related to the overall objective of the post or department (by the Warehouse Supervisor or Superintendent).

Qualification requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Logistics, or equivalent.

Experience and competencies needed.

  • 2 years’ experience in Supply Chain/ Logistics Management.
  • Strong Excel Skills; analytical skills; excellent Interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent working and demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems (as SAP system).
  • Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively and drive results.
  • Excellent communication skills and assertiveness.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to complete tasks in a safe, timely and professional fashion.
  • Demonstrate high working ethics and always conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
  • Maintain Barrick HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the metallurgy team.
  • Supervise activities aimed at achieving metallurgical efficiency on the processing plant.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical accounting and reconciliation reports.
  • Design and conduct metallurgical test work on feed ore.
  • Promote safety and safe work practices.
  • Train and provide training opportunities to Metallurgical staff to ensure they perform effectively.
  • Identify and plan high quality execution of the metallurgical test work to optimize performance and manage external service providers of test work.
  • Contribute directly to the production of sectional, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
  • Identify potential improvement test work through the personal inspection of plant condition and performance.
  • Be responsible for the ongoing monitoring, optimization, and reporting of Process Plant performance.
  • Coordinate crusher and mill liner performance evaluations with process operations and suppliers for change out predictions through inspections, wear measurements and mill scan.
  • Drive development and continuous improvement aspects around plant for the different ore types treated.
  • Maintain a user-friendly, exhaustive, and up-to-date database of all test-work.
  • Review metallurgical test-work, circuit survey procedures and develop new procedures as required to support process development initiatives.
  • Manage the interaction with Mining, Geology, Engineering, Processing operations on process performance and improvement projects.
  • Ensure the metallurgical team are adequately resourced to perform their duties.
  • Contribute to the annual technical section budget/forecasts.
  • Control and reduce operational costs.
  • Contribute towards the planning and execution of plant and laboratory trials.
  • Manage and provide support to projects within the Processing department.
  • Prioritizing and managing the number of active projects to ensure that they can be resourced and completed in a timely manner.
  • Leading investigations to resolve recurring process upsets and production bottleneck.
  • Lead consumables and spare parts stock levels reviews and re-ordering.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Metallurgical Superintendent or Process Plant Manager.

Expected Role Outcomes

  1. Timely delivery of daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports with transparency, logic, and accuracy

Qualification requirements

  • BSC in Metallurgy or Mineral Processing Engineering

Experience and Competencies needed.

  • 5 to 7 years’ experience as a Metallurgist, operating and maintaining gold recovery plants.
    • Intensive leach experience CIL /CIP Gold Plant.
    • Flotation Process – Copper Gold Concentrates.
    • Troubleshooting by visual inspection as well as utilizing trends from the SCADA system.
    • Gold room operation and smelting
    • Plant technical equipment calibration and management.
    • Metallurgical Accounting and Reconciliation.
    • Plant optimization and Process control.
    • Plant Mass balance.
    • Budget Preparation
    • Advanced Excel Knowledge, functional and condition formula
    • Data analysis for metal balancing – Check in –Check Out
    • Sample management, preparation and analysis.
    • A working knowledge of appropriate software programs that will facilitate the reporting and control aspects of the project. These include Word, advanced Excel, and Microsoft Project, Pronto and Access or other database software and Outlook.
    • Team Leadership and Supervision skills.
    • Reliable, trustworthy and be able to cope with pressure.
    • Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.

    • Ensure that each investigation has an accurate, value- adding conclusion for the type of investigation conducted.
    • Assist line management / HR with relevant findings / documentation for use in disciplinary processes.
    • Review collected local intelligence data.
    • Conduct operations as directed by the Superintendent – Industrial Relations/HR Manager and the Asset Protection Manager.
    • Assist other members of the Department in general security duties as directed.
    • Review Policies and Procedures with respect to security and advise Management on methods to minimize security risk.
    • Regularly test documented security procedures for employee compliance.
    • Monitor and report on breaches of safety.
    • Represent the Barrick in any criminal / civil court proceedings where the company is summoned to enter appearance.
    • Abide to all voluntary principles of international human rights standards through daily conduct.
    • Follow all Tanzanian laws pertaining to performance of duty.
    • Maintain case files and central investigations database to operational standards.
    • Other duties as directed by the Superintendent – Industrial Relations or HR Manager.

Qualification requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, Law, Criminology, or related disciplines.
    • Must demonstrate good oral / written communication skills in English.
    • Computer literacy is essential- Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook.
    • Team Player and result oriented.
    • A valid Tanzanian driving licence
    • Mines Health & Safety Act Awareness.

Experience and Competencies needed.

  • Previous experience professional experience with investigatory procedures and practice.
    • Minimum of 04 years’ experience in the Mining Industry.
    • Able to prepare detailed reports which include recommendations to Management on improvements to industrial relations and security.
    • Working knowledge of various Laws and Statute of Tanzania as they relate to offences committed against the Company and its employees.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
    • Good time management skills and the ability to complete tasks in a safe, timely and professional fashion.
